Sides of a multifaceted relation: Associations as recipients of endowments

Copenhagen Associations Project (CAP) Seminar and Ancient History Seminar at the Saxo Institute presents:

Guest lecture by Assistant Professor Sophia Aneziri (University of Athens).

In Ancient Greece, endowments for associations could come in the form of land, or of money to be invested to generate permanent income. The donors were mostly members or even officials of the associations. In the family association, donors appear as the founders of the associations. The main purpose of the endowments was to keep alive the memory of the donor and of the donor’s family.

The lecture will take place in room 12.3.07, KUA 2, Karen Blixens Vej 4, Copenhagen. 2.15-4.00 pm, Monday, November 16th, 2015. All interested are welcome.
